Residence halls open on Friday, January 9. New students to NIU may check in between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Returning students may begin returning any time after 4 p.m. All residents, including returning students, must check in at their hall’s front desk.

You or your helper may park at the unloading zone in front of the residence hall to unpack your belongings. It is strongly encouraged that someone remains present with the vehicle while unloading.

Yes. You can purchase a permit to park on campus. Permits are available by semester or for the entire year.
Dining opens Friday, Jan. 9, with a modified schedule until Monday, Jan. 12.
Monday, Jan. 19 – MLK Day (no classes): both Patterson dining and Neptune dining halls will offer hours from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-8 p.m. Visit go.niu.edu/eat for the most updated dining hours available.
