The Period Project

The Period Project at NIU enhances awareness around the financial burden and inaccessibility that purchasing period products can cause individuals, specifically college students, destigmatizes the way we talk about periods and addresses institutional barriers for people with periods.

Additionally, the Period Project at NIU aims to provide period education to individuals, groups and departments on NIU’s campus while working to create and sustain an environment where every student with a period feels represented and supported.

The GSRC accepts donations in the form of unopened pads and tampons on an ongoing basis during business hours. Products are provided to students and placed in bathrooms of cultural resource centers and select locations across campus.
